So very true. This is why the rescue I work for will not adopt out pups that will be primarily “outside” dogs. I’m sure there are some people that have dogs that live mostly outside that are well taken care of and have no issues, but these are the exceptions. In fact, it is illegal in Texas to tether a dog outside for extended periods of time. Yes, dogs do need exercise and outside time but they also need human interaction because they are incredibly social animals. If you cannot find time to commit to at least an hour of walking/playtime a day (this can be split up ie. a 30 minute walk in the morning and again in the evening), you should not own a dog until you can give that time. And some dogs need even more exercise than that.
